They Understand
Our intake coordinators are also the parents of children with special needs and have obtained services on behalf of their own children. They understand the difficulty of navigating through services to get your child's needs met. They will explain how Case Management may assist your family and answer any questions you may have.
Our Bangor office takes referrals for all counties, and are generally done on the phone in about 20 minutes. After making your referral and signing necessary releases, your confidential information is brought to a weekly team meeting between Wings, Catholic Charities Maine - St. Michael's Center, and Department of Health and Human Services Children's Behavioral Services. After the meeting, youth are assigned to a Case Manager from from either Wings for Children and Families or the St. Michael's Center. We strive to limit wait times and the process generally occurs within a week.\
Who We Serve
- Residents of Aroostook, Hancock, Penobscot, Piscataquis and Washington counties. *We also server bordering towns in Waldo and Somerset counties.
- Youth with (or be eligible to recieve) a mental health diagnosis, mental retardation, developmental disabilities, Autism or Asperger's Disorder.
- Ages birth through their 20th year.
Case Management is funded through MaineCare and/or the Department of Health and Human Services Children's Behavioral Health Services. Unfortunately, private insurances do not fund our service at this time. We do, however, offer a sliding fee scale for families that are not eligible for MaineCare or Katie Beckett (MaineCare benefits for children with serious health conditions).
